Here are some Godlike qualities that Christians typically attribute to God:

Caring,
Compassionate,
All-Powerful,
Perfect,
Patient,
Persevering,
Righteous,
Forgiving,
Gracious,
Longsuffering,
Abundant in Goodness,
Abundant in Truth,
Keeping mercy for thousands,
Forgiving iniquity,
Forgiving transgression,
Forgiving sin
Some of the above were given to us by the Lord himself (Exodus 34: 6-8)
34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
34:7Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty;
Sounds pretty good, maybe we have misjudged him.
WAIT! What? In that self same verse (Ex 34:7) we learn that the Lord will be “visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”
So, even though he is “forgiving of sin”, he will visit the sin of the father upon the father’s great-great grandchildren; even though he forgives sin.
Nope, He’s the same jerk that we thought he was. Speaks from both sides of his mouth.
