The Bible is Wrong to Encourage Rape

Yes, there are numerous instances in the Bible where rape is encouraged. It isn’t called rape. But what else would you call the outcome of these verses? And why are they presented without any outrage? Instead these stories are presented as part of the God Damn “Law”.

RULES OF RAPE According to “The Law”

And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;
And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her. From Deuteronomy 21:11-14; Part of “The Law”!

You Must Marry Your Rapist

If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife;  Deuteronomy 22: 28-29

You have to marry your rapist. That’s just sick. There isn’t anyone on the face of this earth that doesn’t recognize that this is sick, sick, sick. But who are we to challenge God’s word?

Moral of this story
If the beautiful woman isn’t a good fuck, then “let her go whither she will”. In other words, kick her out of your house but don’t sell her. You have already screwed her enough.

From Genesis 19:8, Lot urges strangers to rape his virgin daughters instead of two strangers staying at his house.

Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing;

From Genesis 19:30-36 Lot shines again…

Lot’s virgin daughters get him drunk and then have sex with him.

Lot was not so drunk that he couldn’t “perform”; therefore you know and I know he knew what he was doing. So we have incest on his part.
Lot’s daughters are guilty of rape.

In spite of these two episodes, 2 Peter 2:7-8 says that God viewed Lot as “rightous”!

The Absolute Worst of All

And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.
If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her. Exodus 21:7-8

Let’s think about this for a  minute. These are instructions for pimping your daughter into the sex-slave trade.  Once her “master” has finished with her, he can’t resell her but he can get a refund.

How can you Christians ignore this? How can you possibly love, worship and praise the God that you think wrote this?

Let’s Hear What Moses Has to Say

And now we hear from that pillar of moral virtue and values, Moses…

Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. Numbers 31:1-18

Sick, sick, sick. There is nothing more to say.

Pedophelia

When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it … And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself. Deuteronomy 20:10-14

And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh. Judges 21:7-11

Why, prey tell, do you think they brought them into the camp to Shiloh? .

Go and lie in wait in the vineyards; And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh … And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught. Judges 21:20-23

How To Screw a Slave

And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. Leviticus 19:20

Well, maybe not exactly rape but it is sex with a married woman who is in bondage; close enough, I say. And what about the man? Free pass it appears.

Wait! There’s More!

Valerie Tarico is a well published secularist. The following bible passages, courtesy of Valerie Tarico, show the classic Jewish/Christian denigrating position relating to women. Not all of the passages contain rape but they do show that women are not respected in the Judaeo/Christian cultures.

A wife is a man’s property: You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. Exodus 20:17

  1. Daughters can be bought and sold: If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. Exodus 21:7
  2. A raped daughter can be sold to her rapist: 28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. Deuteronomy 22:28-29
  3. Collecting wives and sex slaves is a sign of status: He [Solomon] had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 1 Kings 11:3
  4. Used brides deserve death: If, however the charge is true and no proof of the girl’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. Deuteronomy 22:20-21.
  5. Women, but only virgins, are to be taken as spoils of war: Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. Numbers 31:17-18
  6. Menstruating women are spiritually unclean: 19 “‘When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening. 20 “‘Anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. 21 Anyone who touches her bed will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening. 22 Anyone who touches anything she sits on will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe with water, . . . 30 The priest is to sacrifice one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. In this way he will make atonement for her before the LORD for the uncleanness of her discharge. 31 “‘You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place,[a] which is among them.’” Leviticus 15: 19-31
  7. A woman is twice as unclean after giving birth to girl as to a boy: A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. ‘ 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4 Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding. 6 ” ‘When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering. Leviticus 12: 1-8
  8. A woman’s promise is binding only if her father or husband agrees: 2 When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. 3 “When a young woman still living in her father’s household makes a vow to the LORD or obligates herself by a pledge 4 and her father hears about her vow or pledge but says nothing to her, then all her vows and every pledge by which she obligated herself will stand. 5 But if her father forbids her when he hears about it, none of her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand; the LORD will release her because her father has forbidden her. . . . . A woman’s vow is meaningless unless approved by her husband or father. But if her husband nullifies them when he hears about them, then none of the vows or pledges that came from her lips will stand. Her husband has nullified them, and the LORD will release her. 13 Her husband may confirm or nullify any vow she makes or any sworn pledge to deny herself. Numbers 30:1-16
  9. Women should be seen not heard: Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 1 Corinthians 14:34
  10. Wives should submit to their husband’s instructions and desires: Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Colossians 3:18
  11. In case you missed that submission thing . . . :  Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Ephesians 5:22-24.
  12. More submission – and childbearing as a form of atonement: A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. 1 Timothy 2: 11-15
  13. Women were created for men: For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. 7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 1 Corinthians 11:2-10
  14. Sleeping with women is dirty: No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. 4 These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as first-fruits to God and the Lamb. Revelation 14:3-4

This list is just a sampling of the Bible verses that either instruct or illustrate proper relationships between men and women. In context, they often are mixed among passages that teach proper relationships with children, slaves and foreigners. The Bible doesn’t forbid either contraception or abortion, but it is easy to see why Bible believing fundamentalists might have negative feelings about both.

From Genesis 38:16 Judah wants to get laid:

And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?

Here”s a different perspective on Gen 38:16…

While this is not rape, it is prostitution and we are witness to the price negotiation. Why is this implicitly condoned and not outright condemned? There is no condemnation of Judah since he did not know that “she was his daughter-in-law”.

  1. Gerry says:

“Lot was not so drunk that he couldn’t “perform”; therefore you know and I know he knew what he was doing.”

Not so. A man’s genitals are fully functional when he is asleep, drunk, knocked unconscious, in a coma, 100% paraplegic. Only if the nerve cluster at the base of the spinal cord is damaged or disconnected from the genitals, or the genitals themselves are damaged will they not function.
The account makes it plain that Lot didn’t know when either of the girls got down on him or when they finished. They must have cleaned the fluids off of him so that he didn’t have any on him when he awakened either time.
People, particularly women, in ancient times were aware of the (5 days) time preceding ovulation in which insemination is most likely to result in fertilization, pregnancy and childbirth. The Catholic Church condemned the Gnostic sect of Manichaeans for teaching and practicing scheduled abstinence (NFP) to avoid procreation. All orthodox Christendom condemned and would excommunicate anyone who was found to be doing anything to copulate in a manner intended to avoid procreation. This held until 1853, when the Catholic Church first approved (“reluctantly,” approval just the same) timing intercourse to avoid the fertile days. This was permitted as a “less immoral” method than the ever-popular withdrawal (coitus interruptus; Onanism). This was condemned as a “mortal sin” as Onanism, but allowed to women who could not get their husbands to stop “destroying their semen on the ground.”
The Protestants held on until 1930 when the Lambeth Conference of the Protestant Episcopal Church (Church of England, Anglican Church, Episcopalian Church) “reluctantly” approved of contraception. This rapidly spread throughout Protestantism with a few holdouts.

  2. Kelly says:

Yes. Very thin. Wow, these rape, prostitution quotes get old quick. So, so played. The Levitical law and law of Moses prohibit murder, rape, prostitution and pedophilia. Really? You didn’t know this? You seriously did not even suspect that this may be the case? The ten commandments are a good place to start. You know where to find those in the Bible, right? A great scholar like yourself has surely read the context of these scriptures. Even little kids understand this basic principle.

    • David Jamesrobert Morris says:

You didn’t refute what he stated in the article. Even if rape is wrong, apparently it was not so wrong as to not have other laws condoning it.
Also, the 10 commandments say nothing about rape.

  3. Dam says:

The problem is Christians will simply say “Oh that’s the OLD testament, we don’t follow that old thing anymore.. (somehow ignoring that their own new testament quotes Jesus as saying he hasn’t come to change the old laws…)

    • Gerry says:

Jesus said that he had not to change the law in so much as one “jot or tittle” (small diacritical marks indicating vowels) but to FULFIL the law. No one had ever obeyed every last “letter” of the law. He said, “It is finished,” meaning his work, then he died.

  4. Keenan says:

Your exegesis is pretty thin. I guess you’ll come to whatever conclusion you want, though.

    • THIN???

What conclusion do you come to?

Let me see you spin any one of the above stories for me. I’d love to see how any of these are anything other than your god encouraging and/or condoning rape.

      • Concerned says:

You are not lead by Gods spirit thats what is happening here.

        1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

You are a natural man if you cannot understand the things of God.

I am not saying these things to judge or condemn you but that you seek God in truth and in spirit.

You need to confess your willful sin of unbelief which is the ONLY unpardonable sin
And seek the true God of all creation even though you may not know him. You need to do this through the spirit laying aside all of your presuppositions that hinder your ability to see the truth and walk in truth. Seeking God without bias seems difficult but you cannot know God without the Spirits leading through the word of GOD. Ask with a Humble sincere heart for the true God to reviel himself to you and search for that God with all you have.

May God give you peace in this matter.

      • Gerry says:

Been done. Nothing is said that they were free to rape prepubertal girls.
If “pedophilia” is attraction to those under whatever your legislature says is the “age of consent,” then the dividing line has varied from 7 (Delaware, Canada, others) to 25 (China).
At common law the aoc is 10 or an individual’s puberty, whichever comes last.

      • Gerry says:

According to feminist statistics only 3 out of 100 reported rapes result in an accused rapist’s conviction and imprisonment, so it seems like your “gods,” the legislature and 5 out of 9 supreme court judges, approve of a lot more rape than you accuse the Bible of allowing.
