The Bible is Wrong About Slavery

God and Jesus Condone Slavery

Everyone knows that slavery, along with torture, rape, child molestation, and kidnapping are the worst kinds of treatment one person can perpetrate on another.  Yet the bible condones every one of the aforementioned activities and fails to prohibit any of them.  The 10 commandments not only fail to prohibit slavery, torture, rape, child molestation and kidnapping, but actually, in the 10th commandment, slavery is condoned. This page will deal only with slavery (the other violations of man will be discussed later).  The bible simply and clearly gets this very easy human rights question utterly wrong.

Def: Slave: A person who is owned by someone else.

Although the word “servant” is sometimes used in the passages that follow, the word is always used in the context of a person who is owned by someone else. That’s slavery, it isn’t made right by calling it servitude.

Old Testament

God Affirms Above Definition of a Servant

He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised. Gen.17:12-13
And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money … and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin.
Gen.17:23

So, there it is. “… and he that is bought with thy money”. That’s the definition of a slave.

And, by the way, “he that is bought with thy money” shall be tortured by having his dick snipped without anesthesia.

10th Commandment Condones Slavery

Here it is! One of the beloved 10 commandments, condoning not only slavery, but the concept of women as property.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s. Ex.20:17

“… any thing that is thy neighbours” That phrase implies “property”. Any property that is thy neighbors. Like his wife. Because she is his property/slave. Like his “manservant”. So here we have God acknowledging that a manservant is property. Not only is a manservant property but SO IS HIS WIFE!

Here then is the 10th commandment condoning slavery; not condemning it as any loving, merciful, just God would. Lovely, just lovely. Where’s the love?

Rules regarding Hebrew slaves.

Even a fellow Jew can be bought as a slave. You can buy one, but you must set him free on the seventh year. But if you have “given” him a wife and she bears children, then you get to keep the wife and kids. If he refuses to leave his family when his seven years are up, then bore a hole though his ear and keep him forever. (That sounds fair!)

If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself. And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever. Ex.21:2-6

Can you fucking fucking believe that? I said that “torture” would be addressed in another page, but God slipped it in here. “Bore his ear through with an aul…” in case you missed it.

How to sell your daughter

And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.  If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: . Ex.21:7-8

Perhaps the worst of the worst. Here god says if your daughter doesn’t give her owner a good fuck, her owner can get his money back.
Now there’s support for the “family values” that people say are taught in the bible. Unbelievable!

Slavery is approved by God, and those who steal slaves must be killed.

And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death. Ex.21:16

OK to slowly beat your slaves to death.

And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money. Ex.21:20-21

It’s okay to beat your slaves; even if they die you won’t be punished, just as long as they survive a day or two after the beating (see Ex.21:20-21).

Do not damage your slaves’ eyes or teeth.

And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake. And if he smite out his manservant’s tooth, or his maidservant’s tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth’s sake. Ex.21:26-27

Sell a thief for restitution

If a thief … have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. Ex.22:2-3

OK for Priests to own people.

If the priest buy any soul with his money…. Lev.22:11

OK to purchase your brother to be your slave.

And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee…. Lev.25:39

God tells the Israelites to make slaves out of their neighbors.

Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever. Lev.25:44-46

This is really amazing. Here again is proof that we are not talking about servants and/or “bondsman”. We’re talking slaves. “… shall be your possession“,  “… to inherit them for a possession”. There is no question that the  righteous and just and merciful and beneficent God is condoning SLAVERY.

God Speaks With Forked Tongue

God did not approve of slavery when his precious children of Israel were enslaved by the Egyptians. Of course that never happened either; just another fabrication to build community among the Jews. See No 10 Plagues. None the less, the Jews celebrate  the fabricated story of  God’s genocide of the Egyptians. Now that God has  murdered thousands of Egyptians and freed his children, it’s OK for them to enslave others. What a guy.

If you read and accept any chapter in the Old Testament, then you own this shit. You cannot mealy mouth your way around it.

New Testament

Paul, who approves of slavery, orders slaves “honor their masters” and to obey their them “in all things as unto Christ.”

Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ. Eph.6:5

Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God. Col.3:22

Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 1 Tim.6:1

Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. Titus 2:10-11

Peter says that all slaves should “be subject to [their] masters with all fear,” to the bad and cruel as well as the “good and gentle.”

Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. 1 Pet.2:18

Luke Agrees with Paul and Peter

And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. Luke 12:47  – That’s that prince of peace, Jesus Christ speaking there you know.

Want to explain that one to us? Anyone? Anyone? And get this, even if the servant did not know his masters will, he is to be beaten, albeit with fewer stripes.

But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. Luke 12:48

HOW? HOW? HOW?’

How can you believe in a righteous and just and merciful and beneficent god when this is what he instructs you (you who would be a slave in the Hebrew world) to do?

If you believe in God, then you have to believe this shit. How can you still believe in a God that spews this nonsense?

Explain Please. Please Explain. What’s the matter with you?

Not the Word of God

Of course none of the phrases quoted above are the words of a God. No righteous and just and merciful and beneficent God could ever make laws that enslaved people. None of the Bible is the word of God but this kind of tripe makes it clear that the Bible is just a collection of writings from authors who wanted to maintain control of their audience – just like the Catholic church did/does.

Ah, slavery. Nothing wrong with it, but for who? At the beginning defeated enemies were put to work for the winners, and that makes sense Criminals were put to work too. Makes sense.Everybody loves a chain gang, right?! But that’s all. Hunting people to make them slaves is wrong. Breeding slaves is wrong. Buying and selling slaves is wrong. Or you can just exterminate your criminals and prisoners. So there.

    Matthew 18:23-25
You made the argument that God approved of selling a man’s family to satisfy a dept, but the next verse which was not disclosed, had the king forgive the debt.
You can’t use half of a story to prove a position.
Now, I am not a believer but you just lost some credibility.

No surprise the cursetians haven’t bothered to even attempt a report on this one. Keep preaching the truth that the oppressed may one day finally see.

This website is obviously the biggest joke ever to be made.

    • Glad you like it.

What’s so funny about it? I don’t see any humor in slavery. Apparently you do.

I love this website so much. Only recently deconverted in the past couple of months and slavery is an argument I use a bit with my christian friends. It’s crazy how many people sacrifice their morality to avoid disagreeing with the bible. The excuses!!! haha anyways thanks for putting all this together.

    • Astilbe says:

How can you live with yourself?! Are you a psychopath? That would explain the lack of conscience…
You should be a slave, that has it’s effect even on your kind.
