The Bible is Wrong: Jesus Is Not Unique

Christians point to certain characteristics of Jesus as historical evidence; i.e. “proof” that Jesus was the son of god and died to save us from our sins.

  • He was born of a virgin
  • He performed miracles
  • He made prophesy
  • He was resurrected. <- MOST important… really makes him unique!
  • His disciples died horrible deaths; they would not have done so for a lie.

Born of a virgin

Being born of a virgin was de rigueur for any self respecting god in Jesus’ day. Rather than have Jesus appear out of nowhere, Matthew and Luke realize that if Jesus is to be recognized as the Messiah, he needs to have a proper backstory. Thus… the virgin birth. Neither Mark nor John even bother with a birth story.

Here is a list of 30 other gods that were born of virgins Other Virgin Births.

If you want to hold onto that virgin birth story think about this:

for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Matt 1:20

The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35

Now, recognizing the truth of the trinity, the Holy Ghost = God= Jesus, then it can be said that:

Jesus had sex with his own mother
in order to give birth to Himself
so that he could sacrifice Himself
to Himself
to save us  from Himself.

How do you like that little enigma?  Is there anything incorrect in the sequence?

So, you see? Being born of a virgin is nothing special and if you want to hold onto the conceit that Jesus was born of a virgin, then you have to explain how one can have sex with his mother before he is born.

Miracles

Again, any god worth his salt performed miracles. History is rife with stories of miracle workers. Here’s the story of just one recent miracle worker. He did all the same stuff Jesus did.

And here is the modern day example.

Sidebar

God really did do miracles; creation, mass slaughter, controlled weather, etc., etc. His son did relatively minor miracles; a healing there, water to wine there, raise a few dead people, heal a leper. Why didn’t Jesus do real miracles like his dad did? Why didn’t he heal ALL lepers for all time instead of just the one or two he came across?
