You Do Not Have “Free Will”

Fourteen year old girls in Nepal are sold as sex slaves and live the worst possible lives.

When asked why God permits this most heinous atrocity to continue many Christians blithely toss off the phrase “free will” implying that God gives us free will to do whatever we want and if God were to intervene (even though He intervened thousands of times in the Old Testament) then man wouldn’t have free will. Thus God can’t intervene if we are to retain our “free will”.

Case Closed. Sorry for the luck of the fourteen old girls who are raped numerous times a day but the perpetrator has free will and therefore he is beyond God’s reach. The fact that the rapist’s free will denies  the young girl’s ability to exercise her free will is immaterial to the “free will” flimsy thinkers.

We presume the following will adequately define free will for those who use it to excuse God’s indifference to human suffering brought on by another human:

Free Will means: that man must be the “ultimate” or “originating” cause of his actions. He must be “self caused”. To be responsible for one’s choices is to be the first cause of those choices, where first cause means that there is no antecedent cause of that cause. The argument, then, is that if man has free will, then man is the ultimate cause of his actions.

The belief in free will has given us both the religious conception of “sin” and our commitment to retributive justice.

The Truth Is…

No one has “free will”.
There ARE antecedent causes to every cause.

Every person comes into a decision point (shall I rape this fourteen year old girl?) with a large set of attributes. Among the more significant attributes are

  • his genetic makeup (possibly containing unfortunate mutations)
  • his parents and his parenting
  • the country in which he was born,
  • the religion into which he was born (one that debases woman, for example),
  • his intelligence quotient,
  • the mores and moral codes and notions of justice and taboos of his society,
  • all his life experiences prior to the decision point,
  • and many other attributes; but you get the point!

Every person who has the exact same set of values for all the attributes will do exactly the same thing when reaching a decision point.
There is no free will. The response is programmed in by all of the values for the above attributes.

The next decision you make will come out of the darkness of prior causes that you, the conscious witness of your experience, did not bring into being.

How then, can we be “free” as conscious agents if everything that we consciously intend is caused by events in our brain that we do not intend and of which we are entirely unaware?

Those who chose to rape those young girls could not help themselves, given everything that makes them, them. Their behavior was pre-determined, programmed so to speak by things over which they had no control; they did not have “free will”. This is not to excuse their behavior. They should be punished severely. But they could not stop themselves.

But God could have stopped them.

So why didn’t He? Oh… that’s right…. “Free Will”.

================================================

The above was TRUTH, this is editorial:

We think that the sale and rape of young girls is the worst atrocity that can ever be perpetrated by one human being on another.  How would you like it if your 12 year old daughter were kidnapped and shipped to Africa (or Spain, we just learned) somewhere where she was sold like chattel and raped by every man who wanted her? Isn’t God supposed to be loving and protective? Where’s the love of these young girls? Where’s the protection?  If God will not put an end to the sale and rape of fourteen year old girls, what good is He?

We have asked Christians to pray to God to put an end to this most heinous infliction of evil but He won’t do it. We don’t know why God doesn’t act on his own but since it is promised* that he will answer every prayer, we asked Christians to pray to God to stop the sale and rape of young girls. He didn’t do it in spite of all his promises to answer our prayers, just as we asked.  If he won’t respond to a plea to stop this, what does it take to get Him to intervene? What could be worse than the sale and rape of young girls?

What good is God if he won’t put an end to the sale and rape of your daughter?

* One Example...”Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours“. Mark 11:24

How about the torture of targeted people every day of our lives until we die by stalking harassment and weapons? That is worse than a single rapw of a girl. I am a panentheist. I believe in Nature Spirituality. Nature is Divine, the Divine resides in Nature and Nature HAS PROVIDED US FREE WILL.
NO THOSE RAPIDTS WERE NOT PREDETERMINED TO RAPE. THEY HAD A CHOICE! YOUR ARGUMENT IS RIDICULOUS. I WAS BORN TO A SOCIOPATH AND A NARCISSIST AND I AM A PERSON OF CONSCIENCE.
YOUR RIDICULOUS PREDETERMINED CRITERIA MAKES ME LAUGH. OH THEY HAD A BAD CHILDHOOD SO THEY WETE ” PREDETERMINED” TO RAPE?! I HAD A HORRIFIC CHILDHOOD AND KNOW WE ALL HAVE DECISIONS TO MAKE NO ONE HAS TO DO ANYTHING. YOU NEED A CRITICAL THINKING COURSE DUE TO YOUR FAULTY LOGIC.

“I would still like to know why your loving God permits anyone to be enslaved, allowed his mouthpieces; i.e. Catholic Priests to molest young boys in the name of God.”

Answer: For the same reason he allows you to manipulate his word to convince others to hate him. You have to acknowledge that if you are wrong, you are committing a far worse crime than kidnapping and rape. You are sending people to eternal torment in the fires of Hell. Rape will seem insignificant then. So, why doesn’t he strike you down immediately? Because his patience is to allow you time to come to repentance. What if he treated you the way you want him to treat others? Would you really want that? God Bless, I pray again that you find the mercy of Jesus Christ.

I haven’t heard back from you. I hope the Lord has laid it on your heart to open yourself up to his love. God is not evil… and none of us, not one, is righteous. We predicate our arugment about the goodness of God on our being good and right. We actually have don’t have a leg to stand on when judging anything; we are too jaded with our personal bias. We need the final “right and wrong” in order to decide if something is really right or wrong. We can only judge ourselves, separate of our opinion of others. The only non-subjective standard is the standard applied by the creator of all. The creator establishes the rules, and we evaluate ourselves by the rules given. We always feel better about ourselves when we compare ourselves to people we already feel are worse than us. Again, I pray that the Lord has opened your heart and you can seek him without pre-applied condemnation and resentment.

      • WTF are you babbling about?

      • Tatiana says:

I am righteous and being tortured to death based solely on who my father was. For no reason human experimentation by the government and extermination since it is harassment to death. Don’t you dare call me not righteous. I have done nothing wrong. I was always kind and never bullied anyone.

    • Save your energy Nate. Hardly anything in the Holey Babble is true. Did you look at any of my other pages. Explain to my how the sun stood still, how a shadow moved backwards 10 degrees, how the world survived 3 years of drought… and that’s just for starters.

      There is no such thing as soul either. Nor is there a hell so don’t worry about me after death. My body will rot away just like yours;

      Read something other than stuff that reinforces your biased worldview. For example read about the Amarna letters;
correspondence between the Egyptian administration and its representatives in Canaan and Amurru during the New Kingdom.

There is no mention as Israel as an entity. No kingdom of 1.2 people right around the time of Joshua.
I Kings 4:21 describes the kingdoms of Salomon from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines and the border of Egypt. An enormous empire, yet there was no empire this large at that time. No trace of Salomon’s empire in any extra-biblical literature.

You need to get out more among thinking people. People that haven’t swallowed the lemonade.

Truthsayer, I will hold the supreme. I am sorry that you had to go through what you went through. It appears your post is related to a personal situation. I will pray for your heart. I have been a victim of sexual abuse, and it took a long time for me to find God in it. I will tell you that people, both believer’s and non-believer’s try so hard to rationalize these acts into their world view. However, if you are considering life from a finite perspective, you will never be able to fit these situations into any worldview. It is only through an eternal understanding that what happens on earth can be understood. In the end, regardless of the suffering and evil, those who hold faith will be healed. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4). You are asking for a promise God never made. The Bible actually says the opposite. Jesus says, “these things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you WILL have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). This was said to people who were hung on crosses, burned, poisoned, and stoned to death among other things for their faith.

In my situation, I realized years after what happended to me that my resulting one night stands, failed relationships, alcohol, etc. had really left just as bad of a wake behind me as the person I blamed for my suffering. I finally looked at Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. I realized that I had become so bitter and resentful because I could only see life through my selfish eyes. Instead of asking how I was sinning against others, I could only see how they were sinning against me.

We tend to hyper focus on the most attrocious crimes in our society to blame God without giving due regard to the smaller yet just as insidious acts of betrayal and emotional destruction happening each day. Is the rape of the 14 year old girl worse than the persistent denial of a fathers love to his daughter, because he is too busy with his own interests? What if his ignoring her leads to her seeking emotionless sexual encounters with multiple partners to ease her pain and rejection? Is it worse than the girl who’s boyfriend dumps her when he finds out she is pregnant. If she has an abortion, is her emotional scarring from that instance less of value? So much in this world is broken because of a lack of deep, committed, and true love. God’s heart breaks with each of these horrendous crimes, but his heart also breaks like the parents of the perpetrator as they ask how their child could do something horrible. They cry out at his brokeness and their inability to see and prevent it. You are angry because of God’s love for everyone. He doesn’t destroy the people you want him to destroy, and that makes you angry. I know it is hard, I feel the same way sometimes. However, God cries for everyone, so which broken event should he stop first? At what point should he stop imposing his will? Will complete domination make you love Him?

To understand why God allows these things we have to understand that love can only exist if freely given. If you love him out of fear, it isn’t love. If it is forced, it isn’t love. I am sorry that we live in a world of sin, but I pray that you will find peace in knowing that a time is coming when those who hold strong to the faith will see an eternity of peace.

Abba, please change the course of truthsayers life. Ease the pain, and wash the anger away so they can find forgiveness and love. Share your SUPREME TRUTH and love. As truthsayer said, remove the cloud of hate and anger that is holding the delusion in place and blinding them. I pray your glory in this. In the name of your son, Yeshua, Amen.

    1 Corinthians 15:
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance:
    – that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
    – that he was buried
    – that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures

and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than FIVE HUNDRED of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Whether, then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.

    • Oh My Goodness.

First of all, I am sorry to my core that you were sexually abused. That is heartfelt and if your belief in gawd and all the other trappings that come with that belief, helped you recover than I am glad for you and I am glad that you are feeling better.

Luckily (LUCK – nothing having anything to do with me or gawd) I have never felt true pain, physical or emotional. I have led a very fortunate life that few have had the luck to experience. I hope (not pray) it continues.

That said, the rest of what I have to say is in total disagreement with your bible quoting pap.

Is the sexual abuse of 14 year old girls who are then sold into slavery worse than those things you mention. No… it is just the most graphic.

Jesus never said any thing you quote. See my proof of that Here https://thechurchoftruth.wordpress.com/the-bible-is-wrong-about-what-jesus-said/

You like the “according to scriptures” bit don’t you? Who ever wrote Matthew (NOT Matthew the disciple) threw in the “according to scriptures” in order to give the nonsense s/he was writing credibility. According to Matthew, Jesus arrived in Jerusalem riding both a stolen colt AND an ass. Whoever wrote Matthew wrote this because he misinterpreted some passage in the Old Testament (those set of books where gawd murders millions because they aren’t Jews).

How do you know anything Paul wrote is true? Paul says Jesus appeared to 500 but Paul wasn’t there was he. Paul heard that from someone trying to perpetuate the Jesus is god myth. Paul also said that Jesus would return during his (Paul’s) lifetime. Paul was a liar. Paul also said that belief was all that was necessary to secure the kingdom. Jesus said that works, specifically selling all you own and giving it to the poor, were required along with belief in The Father (not himself) to enter the kingdom.

It’s all nonsense, but if it helps you, more power to you.

      • Nate says:

I am really sad to see you so set on not believing. Have you invested the same amount of effort into disproving other beliefs? Probably not… no one bothers disproving fakes. The real deal is the only one the devil attacks that way.

No Christian is going to force you to be a Christian, but you may be beheaded for refusing Islam. Puerile blew themselves up to get you to conform, but Jesus is the real problem facing us. They kid nap teenage girls to sell, but the good of the Jews is the problem. Have you expended the effort to prove to the world that Islam is fake?

You feel that YHWH (God) is evil (which is the real root of your feelings, not true unbelief). Unbelief would lead to indifference, because only a fool would dedicate their time to arguing a fairy tale. Do you care to spread the word about the unloving Hindu God that is used to perpetuate a caste system that leaves young girls to grow up in brothels only to become prostitutes, because their is no escape? Have you argued and read all of the doctrines? What about karma? Especially when it is used to justify letting people starve. “They deserve it”, so don’t get in the way. Or maybe they were reincarnated into their wretched existence because they were evil in their past life. Does that make the evil they suffer justified in a way God can’t justify?

You are so angry about Christianity, but you show no concern about other religions, which hold doctrines that produce far worse outcomes for people. You say that we don’t know what Jesus said, but which Christians agree with your reading of the Bible? If no follower of Christ reads the Bible the way you do, then maybe your wrong in your understanding?

Paul didn’t see Jesus? Your right, he was blinded by Jesus on the road to Damascus, while heading to kill Jews. It is hard to see when you are blind. Also, Jesus’ disciples all died horrible deaths, except John, because of their faith. Do you think they would have done that after watching Jesus die on the cross and never resurrecting? Seems to me they would have called epic fail and fourteen back to life. These aren’t people who were convinced later to believe what they didn’t see. Their faith was based on seeing Jesus arisen. I have read and studied the word, I have analyzed the “contradictions”, and I have seen the error in the items people argue. However, will give to you that Christians have struggled to correctly represent God, and the church hasn’t always lived up to its calling. That doesn’t change God. Nor does it change his love for you. The biggest leap of faith isn’t the existence of God, nature proves his existence all around us. It is believing that he loves everyone, because it goes against every bit of our sinful, selfish, angry, and unloving nature. We naturally gravitate to God being mean, because we want him to be in our image. We are pretty mean. Instead we are supposed to conform ourselves to his image. When you start from the position of love, you will begin to understand God.

An interesting note about bad things in the world. We always say, why does good let bad things happen to good puerile. Really, their are no good people. We are all sinful. The right question is, why does good let God things happen to bad people.

I pray you soften your heart and listen to the call of God. He is standing ready to receive you back.

      • Oh I agree about the stupidity of all religions; its just that the Christian religion is the one that most Americans believe.

Save your energy Nate; don’t respond with some long diatribe referencing tripe written by superstitious ignorant flat earth, sun-goes-around-the-earth-folks ignoramuses 2000 years ago. I won’t read it. I would still like to know why your loving God permits anyone to be enslaved, allowed his mouthpieces; i.e. Catholic Priests to molest young boys in the name of God.

  4. peter says:

looks like you are a fool for u forget that you are not consumed by God when you have doubted Gods word and his FOUNDATIONAL APOSTLES ON WHICH IS THE HOLY CITY NEW JERUSALEM When u write this things with out the teacher the holy ghost surely u will have lots of doubts and misunderstanding for the carnal mind canott understand the work of the spirit and God is spirit and Paul also wrote by the spirit where as u are not in the fulness of the holy ghost so please be carefull repent and study the bible with holy ghost amen God has all your answers which you will get on the last day and if u donot stop this foolish work of questioning God then u are in trouble

    • It’s not my fault.
God sent me a strong delusion that I believed a lie. Or maybe the devil made me do it. I just don’t know… what do you think?

      • Johnny Davis says:

wait I don’t believe that is free will. But God does want us to come to him, and everything works out for the best. for example, lots of people died on 9/11 but it restored a sense of national pride and republicans and democrats realized they were both Americans and stopped fighting. so God does allow many people to die, and even die in an unsaved condition, to bring people together. God will then resurrect everyone in the end and they will be judged, and those who chose not to believe are put in the lake of fire.

      • You can’t be serious. Then every tragedy is merely a way for gawd to bring us together? What’s the point of “the end”? Why judged? Your GAWD knows everything so there is no need to wait to the end right. What’s the point of living in youor world.
